Biography: Bertha Marie Fields was born on June 3rd, 1929 in Chester, PA.  She is the third of seven children to Henry and Tiney Wright, She moved to Jersey City, New Jersey in 1929 and to Harlem, New York in 1940.  She married Leonard Fields in 1951 and had three children.

Bertha has been a member of Canaan Baptist Church since 1940.  She belonged to the sanctuary choir and took several Bible classes under Dr. Walker.  She was a longtime member of the Marble Hill Tenant Association.  She retired from Federal Reserve Bank of New York in 1989.

Bertha was a world traveler.  She has traveled to South Africa, Ghana,Morocco, Egypt, Israel, Vietnam, Korea, Peru, India, and the Caribbean.  She enjoyed Jeopardy, Wheel of Fortune, and frequent trips to Atlantic City.

She is survived by her son Barry, daughter Carolyn, step-child Leonard Jr., grand-daughters Nia and Natasha, and great grandchildren Camille and SiRiah.  She is preceded in death by her son, Howard.

Bertha was a beloved friend and family member.
