Biography: Catherine Taylor was born February 8, 1955 in Conway, North Carolina to the late Walter Gatling Jr. and Gracie Marie Parker Gatling. She transitioned into her spiritual life on Sunday,September 2, 2018 at Montefiore Hospital.
 
She graduated from Murfreesboro High School in 1973 and attended Kittrell College for two years before she relocated to New York where she resided for over forty years. She graduated from New Rochelle College with a degree in Psychology in 2001. Sister Taylor worked as a legal secretary in a lawyer’s office, and she was a homemaker.
 
Anyone who knew Catherine or Cat as her loved ones referred to her, knew she was loving and very nurturing. Sister Taylor never knew a stranger and always made anyone with whom she was acquainted feel welcome. She had a very big heart and was always willing to help people she dearly loved.
 
Catherine met the love of her life Joseph Lee Taylor in 1975 at Chock Full O’ Nuts in Manhattan. She heard a man yelling, “Next down, next down.” He gave her his number in roman numerals and the rest was history.
 
Catherine joined Greater Eternal Baptist Church in 2005 under the leadership of Dr. Henry Bolden where she served as Vice
President of the choir. Sister Taylor joined Mount Gilead Baptist Church in 2014 under the leadership of Reverend Roderick P. McArthur where she enjoyed planning annual flower pageants. Sister Taylor was a faithful tither and supporter of her church. She was a sharp dresser and often joined in the mass choir when the spirit moved her. Catherine had a pageant-like signature wave that she would display walking down the aisle.
 
Catherine leaves Joseph to cherish her memory along with her daughter Jonee Lenyia Taylor and her grandson Roland Mark
Anthony Bascombe III (Coco) of Charlotte, North Carolina; one sister: Emma Gatling (Douglas) of Newark, New Jersey and three preceded her in death, Thelma Marie Gatling (John), Essie Gatling and Lois Carter; two brothers: Robert Gatling (Elizabeth) of Brooklyn, New York; Melvin Gatling (Shirley) of Fairburn,Georgia; four preceded her in death, James Gatling, Troy Gatling (Evelyn), McCoy Gatling (Josephine) and Vernon Gatling. She leaves a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends whom she loved dearly.
