Doris A. Holloway

Doris A. Holloway

07-11-1932 - 09-09-2018

Biography: Doris Antionette Holloway was born July 11, 1932 in Harlem, New York at Harlem Hospital to the proud parents Hanson Payne and Thelma Moore. As a scholar who was exceptional in mathematics, she attended and graduated from Stit High School.,

She later married Dallas Holloway on November 22, 1957 and worked in accounts payable and receivables at Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts for thirty plus years.

Doris had two beautiful daughters: Lynne Victoria Holloway and Ann Leslie Holloway; a granddaughter, Jasmine Holloway; and two grandsons: Ilan Holloway and Laron Holloway.

Above all things, Doris’ number one passion was sewing. Her sewing room was her happy place. Her sewing room was her own little heaven on earth with her favorite show Murder She Wrote, her cigarettes, her sewing machine, her fabrics and patterns. She made anything from home accessories to pretty dresses, business suits and even costumes for musicals. You name it, she could make it.

Her favorite authors were James Patterson, Sydney Sheldon and Jackie Collins. Her favorite music artists were Barbara Streisand, Michael Bolton, Marvin Gaye and Diana Ross. Her favorite actors were “The Queen” Queen Latifah and Sean Connery. Aside from sewing, Doris enjoyed playing poker with The Gang every Wednesday and playing her numbers (horse races).

Doris was a very strong, independent woman with a heart of gold. She taught her loved ones to never depend on anyone! To only depend on yourself for you will never let yourself down! And to always think things through in her words “list the pros and cons of everything”.

She will be missed dearly by her family and friends. She leaves behind to mourn her passing: her daughter, granddaughter two grandsons and extended family and friends.
