Biography: Sean Kevin James was born on the May 12, 1971 and was the first boy born to the late Geraldine Martin and Noel James. He was raised by his grandparents John I. Martin III and Catherine Martin. He raised horses and was a jockey. He loved cars because his dad was a mechanic; a passion also shared by his uncles John, Dury and Willy D. He respected his Aunts Eldena and Nalda. He kept in contact with his Uncle Elroy, Aunt Debs and family. He thought of Uncle Oakland and he adored all of his cousins but was close to Sharon Dandridge.

Sean attended St. Michaels and St. Joseph’s Academy School. He loved basketball and he and his brother Ronnie played and were known as the “James Boys”; they were often mistaken for twins. Sean was a member of Freebirds which was comprised of: Jerry, Junie and Squasie, Pit Bulls, Clippers, ABABA, the Antigua and Barbuda National Team Bull Dogs and was an original member of the Dirty Dozen. He also played with several teams in the U.S. and U.K. He attended Trinidad State College in Colorado and Marist College in Poughkeepsie, New York where he graduated with a Bachelors Degree in Computer Science. He played at Madison Square Garden at an ESPN Live Game. It was the first time his Dad saw him play professionally and his sister Karen ran on the court after she felt he was fouled too hard.

He lived in England for a number of years where he taught and played basketball and married Anna Lappa, an Italian. He connected with some great coaches and friends out of the U.K. (DA Firm) and U.S. and brought them to Antigua to teach the youths on the island basketball and football; it was a huge L.E.A.P. This would not have been possible without the love and support from his mom.

After his mom’s death he moved home, started new business ventures, managed G.E.M. and Associates with his sister Krystle, whom he loved, raised crops and animals. He had Thomas take care of his dogs, he had long talks with his Aunt Althea and visited Aunt Yvonne and Uncle Avon and family while on vacation; he also hung out with Junebug. He checked in on his friends, inquired about his nieces and nephews he had not met (Tyler, Aiden, Shawn, Kiara and Mari-Ali). He mentored his niece Roche and nephews: Kevin, Kelvin, Isaac and Giovanni. He took care of Markrys and adored his only great-nephew, Kaleefa and was assisted by his friend Leedi after he got ill. One of his proudest moments was to attend his brother Duane’s game after he was contracted to play for the Braves Basketball Team in the Business League in Antigua.

He traveled to Santo Domingo to visit his friend Ruth Alvarez and returned to the U.S. after twenty years where he visited old friends, played ball, spent quality time with his brothers Keener, Kyler, Keon and Kamar. He confided in his Aunt Cecily and had a great Thanksgiving with his dad and wonderful stepmom Janice who has been a pillar of strength for the family. He completed his full circle in life.
