Anna Maria Harrell

Anna Maria Harrell

11-04-1947 - 12-26-2019

Biography: Anna (Annie) Maria Harrell was born in Vega Alta, Puerto Rico to the proud parents of the late Luis Antonio Borrero and the late Efigenia (Crespo) Borrero on November 4, 1947. The family moved to New York in 1956, settling in the boro of The Bronx where she graduated from Evander Childs High School.

After graduating from high school, she married her high school sweetheart, Terry Bernard Harrell.  From this union came two children, Alisa (Harrell) Jones and Serena Harrell.

Anna (Mother Harrell) was a member of the Mt. Hebron Apostolic Church for 16 years where she was ordained and served as one of the Mothers of the church.

She worked for the United State Postal Service for several years, but left because of the many hours she had to stand.  She then became an Administrative Assistant for the Department of Corrections.  Anna went on to work for Hamilton & Company where she retired after 30 years of service.

After retiring, Anna moved to Davenport, FL to be close to her sister, the late Grace Rivera.  She lived there for five years until she was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer.  She then moved back to New York to spend her last 6 months with her daughters.

Anna enjoyed spending time with her family where they would get together, play games and laugh.  She loved texting her granddaughters Naquasha & Keturah back and forth each morning giving them the quote of the day, where they had to interpret back to her in Spanish. It was hilarious!!!  She and Keturah enjoyed watching tennis while texting each other at the same time. She was an awesome seamstress, a perfectionist in her craft.  She made clothes and suits that looked as if they were bought from the Macy’s store.

Our mom touched so many lives and will be truly missed.  She leaves to mourn her passing Terry Harrell; her two daughters, Alisa Jones (King Charles) and Serena Harrell (Roger); five grandchildren, Naquasha Jones, Keturah Jones, Rashid Jones, Dimitri Rodriguez-Loftus and Brittney Rodriguez; two sisters, the late Grace Rivera and Evelyn Gavilanes; two brothers, Rigoberto Borrero and the late George Borrero; nephews, Andres Rivera (Arris), Robert Rivera; nieces, Leticia Rivera and Linda Borrero; countless of great grandchildren; great grand-nieces, Antina Artega, Ariel Watkins, Andrele Rivera; and countless of cousins, uncles and aunts.  My mom shared her love with so many people and had such a large family, so please forgive us if you were not mentioned and know that Anna loved you too.

Loving Submitted,
The Family
