Biography: Hallie Mae Gurley Thompson-Jones was born on October 24, 1919. Later she married Mr. Manning Thompson who preceded her in death. To this union six children were born: Pecola Thompson, Manning Thompson Jr., Albert Thompson (deceased), Robert Thompson (deceased), Hallie Mae Thompson and Calperta Thompson.
 
Hallie Thompson-Jones and her family migrated to the Bronx, New York from Timmonsville, South Carolina in the late sixties. Hallie became a member of the New Tabernacle Baptist Church in 1978. She was an active and faithful member of the Missionary and several other Auxiliaries of the church. She was one of the “Mothers” of the church as well.
 
In 2011 Mother Thompson-Jones was admitted in the Regeis Care Center where after seven years she became gravely ill. She departed her life on Friday, December 28, 2018.
 
Mother Hallie Mae Thompson-Jones will be remembered as a friendly, high-spirited, outgoing and well-dressed woman of God. She leaves to mourn: four children: Mrs. Pecola Thompson-Dickey, Mr. Manning Thompson Jr., Reverend Hallie-Mae Thompson-Foard and Mrs. Calperta Thompson-Gillians; 11 grandchildren: Mrs. Barbara Dickey-Williams, Mr. Osaiah Dickey, Mrs. Patricia Dickey-Morris, Mr. Carl Dickey, Mrs. Sheila Thompson-McCallister, Mr. Frankie Thompson, Mr. Tony Dargan, Mr. Raymond Foard Jr., Mr. Robert Gillians III, Mrs. Shavonka Gillians-Smith and Ms. Raychelle Foard; 26 great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
