Biography: Betty Ann Coleman, affectionately known as Millie, was born in Branchville, South Carolina to the late Louis and Lucille (Ferrell) Smith on November 29, 1934. She was the fourth of eight children.
Betty attended elementary school and graduated from Lockett High School in Branchville. She moved to New York City in the early 50’s where she enjoyed babysitting children. Later on in life she enrolled in the City College of New York, was an honors student on the Deans List and obtained her bachelor’s degree. She enjoyed life to the fullest and always had a smile on her face.
She is predeceased by husband Harry Gamble, brother Louis Smith, Jr. sister, Hazel Smith, sister Alice Smith Tucker, Dorothy Smith Saunders and Winzaree Smith Brown.
Betty leaves to mourn her passing with loving memories, sister Molly Smith Haulcombe, brother-in-law, Arthur Haulcombe, sister Ruth Smith Kennedy, nephew Craig Kennedy, nephew Elijah Middleton III, nephew, Herbert Brown, Jr. nephew Lyndon Brown, nephew Louis Smith III, nephew Leroy Saunders, Jr. niece, Deirdre Kennedy, niece Delores Tucker Bryant, grand nephew, Elijah Middleton, IV, grand niece, Elaysia Middleton and a host of cousins, other relatives and friends.
