07-15-1955 - 02-16-2019

Biography: Yvonne Yolanda Spencer-Boyd’s story began on July 15, 1955 when she was gifted to Ralph Spencer and Helen Miles-Spencer.

Yvonne, also known as “Love” didn't have an easy journey. Her experiences would help to mold and create the strong beautiful charismatic woman we knew her to be.
Yvonne made many life-long friends growing up and going to school in Harlem, New York. She took pride in her appearance and it was evident in her elegant style of dress and her bright, flamboyant presentation as well as her signature matching headdresses. She was like no other.
Twenty plus years ago, Yvonne met the love of her life James “Daddy” Boyd. They would marry and spend their time travelling the country and the Islands.

Yvonne was and will always be a permanent figure on 127th Street and Lenox Avenue where she sold T-shirts, flowers and dresses. This afforded her the opportunity to meet local celebrities and make new friends and associates including the owner of the famous “Sylvia’s Restaurant”. Yvonne’s laughter was electrifying , it was brighter than the sun. A true “Spencer” smile.
She was all about spending time with her family. Yvonne loved cooking for them and absolutely adored her grandson, nieces, nephews and extended family.

Yvonne will be greeted in heaven by: her father, Ralph Eugene Spencer; her mother, Helen Elizabeth Mae Miles-Spencer Collier; her brothers: Ralph Paul Spencer and Bernard Joseph Collier Jr. and her son, Ralph Spencer.

She leaves behind to cherish her memories:  her husband, James Ernest Boyd; three sons: Jamel, Joseph and Abdullah; a grandson, Oan; three stepdaughters: Kim, Keisher (Lester) and Karol; three brothers: Clifford, Jason and Larry; four sisters Cheryl, Karen, Lorez Collier and Bernadette Mickens; two sisters-in-law, Shirley Ann and Anna (Ed); along with a host of nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, grand-nephews.

Her earthly story ended on February 15, 2019. We will miss you beloved Yvonne. Until we meet again.
