Biography: John E. Harrison was born April 14, 1943 in Orangeburg, South Carolina. The son of the late Mr. Thomas Harrison and the late Josephine Harrison.
John Harrison migrated from Orangeburg, South Carolina with his parents at an early age. They came to Brooklyn, New York, where he spent most of his young life. He attended the Brooklyn Public School Systems in which he graduated from Lane High School. He also attended Theory School. John was working for the Human Resource Administration in 1986 as a Custodian in the Maintenance Department. He worked there for 30 plus years and worked there until his passing.
John was professional, accountable and had integrity on his job at all times. You could also count on him at work as well as at home. He was an Icon. He was very orientated. He was called by many different nick-names, such as: Harry, John John and Ice.
He will be missed by his wife, family and friends.
He had one brother, James Harrison Shabazz of Richmond, Virginia who preceded him along with his parents.
John leaves to mourn: his wife, Carrie Tillman Harrison of Harlem, NY; one daughter, Tasha Rucker of the Bronx, NY; two grandchildren, Dalanee Sweet and Nefertiti Lundy both of the Bronx, NY; one step-son, Ronald of Savannah, GA; two special cousins, Carol and Zora of Washington, DC; along with many other relatives and friends.
