Biography: A  Reflection Of Life
 
Mrs. Lucille Truvell Walker was born January 8, 1928 in Branchville, South Carolina. She was the daughter of the late Mr. John Metts and the late Mrs. Rosa Lee Truvell Mack. Lucille was reared by her  grandmother, Mrs. Josephine Truvell. She entered eternal rest on March 12, 2019.
 
Born Mattie Lucille and known affectionately as “Cile”, she was educated in the Branchville School System. She achieved the honor of being Salutatorian of her high school graduating class of 1943. Lucille was a faithful household worker for many years. She was also a dedicated worker in the church. Several years ago, Lucille was appointed Church Mother. Additionally, she served in various capacities such as being a member of the Steward Board, president of the church choir, church secretary, chairwoman of the church’s building fund and served as a delegate for the Annual A.M.E. church conference. In her community, she served on the board for the Annual Raylrode Daze Festivul and served as a poll worker for many local and national  elections.
 
Lucille was united in Holy Matrimony to the late Sollie Walker, Jr. in October 1946 and to this union five children were born. Lucille loved her family dearly. She often spoke highly of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren to all who she encountered. She loved cooking, baking, family gatherings and hosting church programs. She also loved shopping as her sense of style was unmatched. Lucille often shared many pearls of wisdom. Her witty expressions were unique and often humorous. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and grandmother; Four sisters: Arlene Collier, Flossie Hollins, Esther Marie Garvin, and Mary Ellen Gadson; Three brothers: Shelly Mack, Jr., Jesse Collier, Jr., and Vernon “Bubba” Mack.
 
Left to cherish fond memories are Five Children: Sollie “Sugarfoot” (Janie) Walker III, Alice “Nina” (Larry) Shuler, John B. “Piggy” (Carolyn) Walker, Willo Dean (Tommy) Byrd, and Dennis (Pamela) Walker. Twelve Grandchildren: Tommy C. (Sherita) Byrd,  Sollie Walker IV, John B. Walker II, Shalanda Shuler, Dr. Tameka Byrd, Kameelah Walker, Thomas T. Byrd, Jamal Walker, Lisa Walker, Esq., T’Stephanie Byrd, Dr. Larry K. (Aleah) Shuler and Krystal Shuler; Five Great-Grandchildren: Maiya Byrd, Jordan Byrd, Jalynne Walker, Avery Shuler and Roman Shuler; Two Sisters: Verna Louise (Floyd) Gordon and Sylvia Pelzer. A host of nieces, nephews and friends. One special great niece, LaShawn Bowman. One lifelong friend, classmate, neighbor and confidant, Mariah W. Pryor and several devoted caretakers.
