Biography: Stepney Walter Rogers, the son of the late Stepney Barno and Blanchie Rogers, was born on March 12, 1966, in New York City. He was the oldest of four children.
Stepney was educated in the New York City Public School System at Brandeis High School. He worked at Barno Demolition in New York City, Baptist Medical Center in Little Rock, Arkansas and Pottery Barn in New York City. He was a former member of Union Baptist Church.
James, as he was affectionately called by is family and friends, was a loving and caring man. He was a friend and brother to all who called upon him to lend a helping hand. He will be greatly missed by all. James laugh could change a room.
James leaves behind to cherish his precious memories: three children: Aaron Brown, Courtney Rogers and Stepney Rogers Jr.; his high school sweetheart Ronise Brown; eight grandchildren: J’ Den, J’ Lana, Jaelyn Rogers, Dylan Rogers, Auston, Truth Rogers, Ava-Lynn, and Autumn.; grandmother Dorothy Cherebin; three siblings: Lakesha Rogers, Perry (Lashawnda) and Jonathon (Anita); grand aunt Ida Whitehurst; grand uncles Reverend Treadwell York and Dr. Leon Andrews (Ethel); six uncles: George, Richard (Betty), Gary (Shireen), Steven (Darlene), Troy (LaShawn) and Raphael (Josie); two aunts: Patricia Abdula (Irshad) and Sandra Person; three nephews and four nieces; goddaughter Jatara; two godsisters: Ricky Ann and Sherry; best friends: Theodore, Antionette Johnson and the Smith family; and a host of many other close relatives and friends.
