Belita Estep

Belita Estep

01-21-1968 - 03-17-2019

Biography: Belita was born on January 21, 1968 in Brooklyn, New York, Kings County to the late Gloria Mae Estep. Belita and her family moved to Astoria Queens in the 1970's. She attended Public School 171 and I.S. 126. Belita was an amazing math student. Later Belita went to Washington Irving High School where she received her Diploma. Belita was given the nickname "Piggy" by her grandmother when she was a little girl. Only her family called her that name but boy did she hate it. Belita lived her life to the fullest.

Belita’s last employment was with Verizon working as a Communication Specialist for the visually impaired. Growing up Belita and her favorite sister Shelia would go to the neighbors house in her building on the 5th floor where she learned to love music. Belita loved all music but she was especially fond of her reggae. Belita was always the life of the party. She would always bless the place with her style and grace. Belita was what you called a realist. She was energetic, outspoken, vibrant, caring and loving. Belita loved being around people.

In 1985 Belita gave birth to her one and only son Rhondell Payton whom she loved to the moon and back. There wasn't anything that she wouldn't do for him. Belita and Rhondell had a special bond; they were more than a mother and son, they were more like best friends. What's understood doesn't have to be explained. Belita is what you call the epitome of strength. Belita was bold, and strong. She would give you the shirt off of her back. Belita especially loved children. She was nurturing and loved spending time with her favorite nephews Alex, Talik, talking Jones and Kaseem whom she called “Pop”.

Belita was a champ. She fought many fights and out beat a lot, however on March 17, 2019, Belita Estep departed this life and received her wings from the heavens. She leaves to cherish her memories: her son Rhondell Payton; two brothers, Ronald J. Branch and Troy Watson; two sisters (especially) Shelia Estep and Charlesmayne Estep; seven nephews: Ronald Branch Jr, Tayjawn Branch, Alex Estep, Talik Jones, Rogers Spellman Jr, Orlando Spellman and Kaseem Estep; as well as a host of aunts and uncles, cousins. Family and friends.
