Biography: James "Jimmy" Goodwin, Jr. was born on December 21, 1957 in New York City. He was the son of James Goodwin Sr. and Doris
Goodwin.
James attended Benjamin Franklin High School. He was employed at NBC Studios where his employers commended him for his loving and easy going spirit but not his work ethic.. They didn’t know that James'passion was music. Much like his father, who was the lead singer of his band in Charleston, South Carolina. James was a lead singer and bassist for his own band.
During his teenaged years, James became interested in Martial Arts. He began studying at the Abraham Lincoln Houses Community Center and went on to become a Black Belt. It was those skills that taught James how to protect himself from a high school bully whose arm he'd broken in three places. Martial Arts also strengthened his focus and self confidence, which helped him to be a better musician.
Although James had gone through many changes both mentally and physically, the one thing that never changed was his love for music. His request for his family would always be a radio with batteries to go in it, and you'd often find him with his headset on tapping his feet to the music.
James was a loving son and brother. His beautiful spirit is free of this world and all its pain and suffering. He's now with his father.
