Biography: Ms. Yvonne Thomas, daughter of Euline Thomas and the late Mary Agnes Thomas departed this life on October 15, 2019, at Mt. Sinai Hospital. She was 58 years old.
Yvonne was born December 9, 1960 in New York, NY, she was the youngest of six children. She Graduated from Benjamin Franklin High School and attended the Mendl School where she studied to become a dental assistant. Yvonne worked for the Harlem Hospital Dental Clinic for over 30 years before retirement. She was known for her even temperament and was well respected and well liked by her colleagues and patients. She was also well known in Harlem for her distinctive strut which could be seen on her walks to and from work and church.
Yvonne was a faithful member of Ephesus SDA Church and was known for sitting in the same section every sabbath. She served for many decades in the sabbath school department, where she enjoyed teaching the youth about Jesus.
Yvonne shared a special bond with her daughter, and delighted in each moment that she shared with her granddaughter Brave, who she affectionately called Bebe. She was also a loving aunt to her nieces and nephews, a devoted daughter, a good sister and a loyal friend. Of all of her friendships Yvonne cherished her time with George Backmond the most.
Ms. Yvonne Thomas is survived by her daughter, Ebony Thomas; father, Euline Thomas; three sisters, Francis Moore, Shirley Shephard, and Edith Murray; two brothers, Melvin and Michael Thomas; a grand daughter; Brave J Benjamin; four nieces; nine nephews; close friend George Backmon, a host of relatives and friends.
