Biography:

Mrs. Lucille (McBride) Taft was born February 1, 1934 in Salters, SC to the late Silas Robinson and late Carrie (Dotts) McBride.  She was called to eternal rest on January 27, 2018 at Jacobi Medical Hospital, Bronx, NY. She received her formal education at the public school in Williamsburg County. She joined Union Baptist Church at an early age and sang on the choir. 
 
Upon moving to New York City, her love of God and her desire to worship the Lord led her to join the Gethsemane Missionary Baptist Church in the Bronx. There she became a member of the Gospel Chorus Choir, she loved to sing. She was a member of various ministries in the church, such as the: Hospitality Ministry, New Member Counselors,   Senior Choir, Seniors Ministry, Outreach Ministry and Decorating Ministry.
 
She was employed as a housekeeper at the Bronx Motel; also, as a Home Health Aide, and worker at Daughter of Jacobs Nursing Home. For community partnerships and socializing she became a member of the William Hodson Senior Center and the Grandparent Advocacy Project (GAP). Lucille volunteered and wore many hats such as: the Gospelaire Choir, Hospitality, and Decoration Club. She was known and referred to by some as the Gatekeeper. Lucille loved family, cooking, and playing her gospel music.  Most of all, she loved her Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ and praised Him all the time. She was a giver at heart, known for her generosity, wherever, whoever, or whatever was the need she found a way to help. She would attend community workshops to gain more   information to share, and help someone.
 
Preceded in death by her late husband, George Taft Sr.; daughter, Rebecca (Taft) McCall; son George Taft, Jr., and              granddaughter (daughter) Kiniqua Taft-Thorpe. She leaves to cherish her memories 4 daughters: Bertha Yeadon, Georgia Taft-Shivers, Virginia McBride and Carrie Taft. (3) sons: Isiah McBride (aka James), Isaac  Robinson Taft and Shiquan Taft (grandson/son); (2) sons-in-law: Harry Yeadon and Keith Shivers; (4) sisters-in-law, (Betty Burgess, Shirley McBride, Louthania McBride and Everlena McBride), (1) adopted spiritual sister, (Min. Leither Ligon); (12) grandchildren, (19) great-grandchildren, (6) great-great grandchildren, (2) grandsons-in-law. (1) great-grand daughter-in-law, (2) dear friends: Betty Barnett and Ophelia Frieson, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, spiritual daughters, spiritual sons and friends.
