Biography: Ruthann Cohan-Aikens was born July 28, 1954 at metropolitan hospital in the borough of Manhattan to Hortense Carosa   McAllister.
 
Ruthann was educated in the New York City school systems, she attended Brandeis High School and went on the gain a    college degree at Mercy College for business Administration she then went on to work for the Federal IRS, here she retired after fifteen years of service.
 
Ruthann was always the brains, she was so intelligent if she wanted, she could have ran a Fortune 500 Company. She choose to live the working nine to five life and focus on family.
 
Ruthann was the second oldest child to Hortense but the only daughter, She was the second in command. She took pride in her role as a nurturer, and care taker for her family. all her siblings would say with affection “you know Ruthie is the boss”. She then took on her roll as a mother when she gave birth to her daughter Doreen in 1969 and her son Lovell in 1987 and dedicated her life to being a mother and wife with enjoyment of her blended family; She was not only a great sister, wife, and mother but had many important rolls in her family and friends life..
 
Ruthann was a god loving women. She devoted most of her time to her family’s church; Mount Nebo Baptist Church where her mother raised her and her brothers under the late reverend Richard but later on found her place in the congregation with Pastor Rev. Dr. Jonnie M. Green Jr. As President of the Trustees. She would often lead in spiritual prayers and send mass prayers texts to her friends and family. She knew just how to lift your heart closer to the lord as she can physically possible..
 
We her family loved her greatly and anyone who knew her loved her a great deal. Her huge presence and sense of humor will be missed forever.
 
Ruthann is preceded in death by her mother Hortense Carosa Mcallister, brothers Charles Anthony Mcallister, Jonathan David Mcallister Sr and her daughter Doreen Letrice Cohen..
 
She leaves to mourn her: Her Husband: Frederick Aikens; her children: son Lovell Cohen, step children Derrick and Darnell; her siblings: Ronald Mcallister, Reggie, sister-in-law Maggie Mcallister, and Debora Mcallister;  Immediate cousins: Greg and Ellen Mcallister;  Immediate nieces and nephews: Leah, Crystal, Mecia, Tondalia, Audrey, Nadia, Rondea, Jonathan Jr, Sharena, Darell, Ronald Jr, LaShaun, Liam and Doreen and  a host of other relatives and friends.... the list goes on..
