Biography:
Delores Wynns was born on July 10, 1933 in Summersville, South Carolina. She was one of six children born to the late Moses and Laura Wynns. Three of her siblings preceded her in death and they were: Ethel, Charlotte and Lucille.
Delores was educated in the state of South Carolina and upon coming to New York, she attended Columbia University.
Delores was united in holy matrimony to George Ross and out of this union three boys were born: George Anthony (whom preceded her), Kevin Alexander and Jeffrey Wayne.
She was employed at Hunter College as a Pool Assistant from 1979 until she retired in 1997.
Delores joined Greater Central Baptist Church in the 1960’s under the leadership of the late Reverend Peter L. Mouzon. She loved to sing and along with her sisters, Geneva and Lucille, joined the “Young People’s Choir” which later became the “Cathedral Choir”. Years later she sang on the “Sanctuary Choir”.
Delores was a kind-hearted, giving person. She didn't mind cooking you a meal or baking you a cake. If she hurt anyone, it wasn't done intentionally because she tried her best to help anyone who needed help.
She leaves to cherish her memories: loving, devoted, caring, giving, kind sons Kevin and Jeffrey (Monique); three grands: Antoinette, Jeffrey II and Troy; one sister, Geneva Williams of New York City; one brother, Joseph Wynns (Ann) of Indiana; three nieces: Jeanette Irick of New York City, Debra Hazley of Georgia and Janice Rodger of South Carolina; one nephew, Thomas Torain of North Carolina; George Ross, Sr.; other nieces, nephews, relatives and a host of friends and well-wishers.
