Biography: Valerie Theresa Martin was born on July 24, 1952 in Harlem, New York to Ella Mae Martin and Jessie Lee Campbell.
She obtained a high school education. Her most fond memory was playing the clarinet on live radio broadcasts as a child. She enjoyed eating peaches, pecans, and assorted snacks. Which became a fond memory of her grandchildren: “Mommy, Nana would always pick us up from school and when we got home; she would have a sandwich and our snacks on the table
waiting for us.” We have a lot of memories and will always choose to remember the good times.
All those who knew Valerie, loved her feisty and funny attitude. In every encounter you were sure to get read followed by a sassy and witty comment that would shock you into laughter.
She was loving, loveable, and wanted to be loved. It is our family’s prayer that she is basking in an overflow of love in our God’s heavenly kingdom. Valerie leaves behind one daughter, Vanessa Debellotte; three granddaughters; Essence Harmon, Ashley Harmon, and Vaniqua Harris. Two grandsons; Latif Lewis-Harmon and Alexander Olivier; one brother, Tyrone Martin and one sister, Sharon Martin, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
Valerie is preceded in death by her father, Jessie Campbell; her mother, Ella Mae Martin; her brothers Matthew Martin and Jessie Martin; her sister Julia Martin, and her granddaughters Ellanasia Harmon-Nanagyamfi and Victoria Harmon.
