Biography: Morgan Jones son of the late Hattie Jones was born May 12, 1936 in Demopolis, Alabama. On Sunday, December 27, 2020 an angel was dispatched to Mount Sinai Hospital in New York, New York to deliver the final earthly plan for Morgan, calling on him to "come quickly" for the time of his departure was at hand.
Morgan accepted the Lord as his Savior at Mother African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church in his mid-30's. About 1975 he did join the church where he was a faithful servant and an active member of Class #4. He was an active member of the Usher Board and always found himself the kitchen with his best friend for Cliton Johnson. He maintained his faith in the lord until departure from this world. Morgan received his education at Jones High School in Demoplis, Alabama. He was an all-star on the football team. He was going to attend College in Chicago until he injured his knee while playing football his Senior year of High School. He then pack is bags and move to New York City in the early 60's.
Morgan arrived in New York city where he was employed with New York City Housing Authority for 36 years. He also worked as an custodian for the McKinley Day Care Center at night for 33 years. He was also an active member of Teamster Union Local # 237. He retired from both jobs in 1996.
Morgan was joined in holy matrimony to the late Mary Ellen Jones for 50 blessed years before her departure. To this union four sons were born: Robert Anthony, Morgan Derrick, (the late Andre Eugene) and Adren Eric Jones. Preceded in his death was the late Francis Angell Jones.
Morgan leaves to cherish his memories: sons Robert Anthony (Elaine), Morgan Derrick and Adren Eric; grandchildren, Keon, Amber, Julian, Morgan III, Ajee, Andrea, Adren Jr., Aden and Amir; three great-grandchildren. Sister-in-laws Sara of New York, Emily Beverly of South Carolina, Cynthia of New York; special daughters Najwa.
