Biography: Linda Patricia Holmes, daughter of the late Maybell "Minnie" Canteen and David Linen, was born on November 22, 1949, in Dunbar Community Georgetown, SC. She peacefully and quitely entered her place of rest on Thursday, July 22, 2021.
Linda was faithful employee at Bell South for over thirty years. She enjoyed working with her cowoerkers, who became family over the years, and serving the community. Even in retirement, she continued to serve the community and her family by giving. She was always making, sending and taking care packages to those in need.
Linda, the Senior Diva, enjoyed life to the fullest. She had the priviledge of celebrating her birthday twice, once on November 22 and then again on January 22. She was always smiling and ready to take pictures. She loved traveling and spending time with her family and close friends like Ms. Sarah.
Linda joined Mount Olive Baptist Church at an early age. Linda accepted the Lord and attended First Glorious Church when she moved to the Bronx. She was the fifth child of seven and was preceded in death by her mother Minnie, brother Arthur Canteen and sister Jannie Belle Armstrong.
To honor her legacy and cheris precious memories that will forever be in our hearts, Linda leaves two great aunts, Carrie M. Canteen and Ethel Giles; one brother, Furney (Gladys) Canteen and six sisters Carol A. Atkins, Annie Canteen, STella Browne, Lillie Grate, Bernice Lance, and Johnnie Stewart; a host of nices, nephews, great-nieces, cousins, and other loving and caring friends.
A special niece whom she considered her daughter Desiree McCants and a special cousin Yvette Goodman who took care of her over the last several months of her life.
