Biography: William Lee Bagley, affectionately known as “Sugar Boy” was born on February 2, 1955 in Cumberland County, Virginia to the late Judy Frances and Jack Bagley, Sr. William was the 3rd of 5 children. William was nicknamed Sugar Boy because as a baby he refused to drink milk unless it had sugar in it.
William’s family moved to New York in 1957 where he attended the NYC Public School System. William also worked a variety of jobs thru out his lifetime; such as Governors Island, Private Sanitation, and finally retiring from the parking industry. William met his common law wife Deborah Cohen and from that loving relationship, Tamara was born. Deborah preceded William in death in 2017.
William was a fun loving and dedicated son, brother, father, grandfather and friend. Sugar Boy would move Heaven on earth for his family. His past time was playing numbers, scratch offs, spoiling his grandchildren and dressing. William loved to wear his bucket hats in the summer and Kangol hats during the winter. William was the party starter, the first one on the dance floor and the last one off. William transitioned from this earthly place on August 21, 2021.
William leaves to cherish his memories; Father. Jack Bagley Sr., two beautiful daughters; Tamara Cohen and Yolanda Bagley, two step-children: Tamika Gilford and Howard Cohen, Sister: Frances Wilson, Brother-in-law, James (Buster) Wilson, two brothers; Jack Collin Bagley and John McKinley Bagley, God-brother; Jack Booker, 8 grandchildren; Kaseem, Kameron, Jetayia, Jahquan, Mahogany, Howard Jr., Sahara, and Hunter. Three aunts; Sally Bagley, Lydia Booker Kimberly, and Ruth Merritt along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, and many friends.
William joins his Mother, Judy Frances Bagley, Brother Arthur Bagley, and wife Deborah Cohen who preceded him in death.
