Biography: Pearl Lee Walker was born August 14, 1928 in Harrisburg, PA. She was the second of three children born to the late Elbert & Texanna Swindler. She was proceeded in death by her two brothers Thomas & James Swindler & her sister Lizzie Sims. Pearl attended the Drayton Street School & High School graduating in 1946. She met and married the late William Walker Jr. To that union two children were born, Thomas Elbert and Marilyn Sandra Walker. Separating from her husband after 3 ½ years , she relocated in New York City. She joined the Shiloh Baptist Church with her two children in 1958 under the leadership of the late Rev. Leslie E. Wainwright.
One important thing about her, she became a loving, faithful and good Christian. She later joined the senior usher board and the ladies auxiliary. Retiring from the Sloan’s Supermarket after 30 years, she joined the senior citizens ministry. She was a loyal and dedicated member, always quiet and pleasant and walked with her head high and always a big beautiful smile on her face. She really loved the ushers, the senior citizens, her pastor and church. She enjoyed ushering. She worked with them until she was no longer able, but her thoughts were always with them.
Our Heavenly Father called her home on March 11, 2018. She leaves to cherish her memories five grand children, Jermaine Walker, Thomas Walker Jr., of North Carolina, Latisha Walker of Queens, New York, Dwaynne Walker-Dixon and Carolyn Walker-Jones of New York City. Four great-grandchildren, Chalyce Green, Isiah Johnson, Xzaivian and Banks Walker of North Carolina. One first-cousin, Thelma Sligh. One daughter in law, Judy Walker of Dunn, North Carolina. And one god-daughter, Denise Williams of Bronx, NY. A host of cousins and friends and her church family she loved so much. Sleep on dear grandmother, take your well deserved rest, we love you so much, but god loves you so much more
