Biography:

Hugh Carlton Dixon was born to the late Leonard Dixon and late Dorothy Farmer Dixon on October 08, 1931. 
Preceded him in death Brothers: Douglas Dixon, Rudolph Dixon and Sister: Girley Dixon Daughter; Paulette Dixon-Reede

Hugh was raised by his parents in Kingston, Jamaica where he excelled as a student and as a track athlete. Hugh was always big on education and proceeded to extend that same enthusiasm to everyone around him. He than married the late Violet Leeone Dixon having twins Paulette E. Dixon– Reede and Paul Dixon.  Later along the way Claudia Dixon was born.

He always worked hard especially for  the soap company Palmolive. They wanted him to take over the company, but he saw a greater opportunity moving to the states. 

In 1973-74 Hugh decided to move to the United States. Hugh then worked hard becoming a 7A Administrator and Super for properties but mostly known for this work at the Andrews Complexes on University Avenue.  Hugh later married Delores Moon Dixon , his soul mate and together they raised Paul, Paulette , Claudia , Artis Jr. and  Grandchildren LaPorsha, Aaliyah Jazmine and Paul.

Between work and family, Hugh always made himself available for everyone. He would often take on the role as an Extra-Grandpa or Extra-Father to those at need always making sure that those he cared for were always taken care of.  Hugh extended his kind heart to everyone around him. He consistently volunteered in the community  and at Food Banks. Even weekly at the Mid Bronx Community Center food bank, Hugh was always  a community liaison for the elderly and mentoring the youth. He was  know to give advice to the all family members but also known for encouraging and helping out everyone. He always saw the best in those around him and always strived for them to want  more and better for themselves.   

Hugh loved life, he loved his Wife Delores whom he knew that God sent to him as his true soul mate. She supported him and the family with everything. Hugh just loved people in general and would go out of his way to help others, like the many family members, friends and neighbors he and Delores took into their home. Hugh was always considered the “Wise Man” of the family to his nieces, nephews and grandchildren. (Always known for his calm, smooth, laid back demeanor and his savvy style. The family would always be in aw especially when he dressed up in a suit and hat.)

He leaves to mourn one Sons Paul & Step Son Artis Jr. , Daughter Claudia,  Grandchildren: Dante, John, LaPorsha, Parise,  Artiqua, Artis 3rd, Aaliyah, Znobia, Paul, Jaszmin, and Great-grandchildren: Jaxon, Akhilles,  Aayinde, Shiloh and Summer-Rose. Sisters: Cynthia (Kingston, Jamaica)  God Daughter: Hertencia Delores Petersen (Jersey City)  a host of nephews including Norman  and nieces including Donna, Dion and Deonna, cousins, friends and those Special devoted friends.
