Biography:

ANNIE LAURA DOSS-MILLER was born August 10, 1945, to the late John Percy, Sr., and Lucinda Coleman Doss. Annie Laura was granted her angel wings and departed this life on Tuesday, January 11, 2022, at the Montefiore Hospital in Bronx, New York.

Laura, (as she was fondly called by her siblings), was preceded in death by her parents: John, Sr., and Lucinda Doss; her grandparents Henry “Stubb” and Susie Coleman and Martin and Rosa Jackson Doss. Her brother John Doss Jr. Three aunts Rosie Trimble, Laura Bea Howard, and Annie Richardson. Four uncles, James “Sammie” Coleman, Richard Coleman, Willie Coleman, and Robert Coleman. A niece Doris Benson and a nephew Stanley Benson.

She was educated in the Claiborne County School District and graduating with the Addison High School Class of 1966.

At an early age she united with the Springfield Missionary Baptist Church in Carpenter, MS. Shortly after graduating, Laura moved to New York. She later united with the Seven Light Baptist Church in Bronx, New York where she served
faithfully until her demise.

While in New York Laura worked with Tasty Bakery for over 20 years, and later was employed by the New York School District, where she retired from in 2007.

Laura was a family-oriented person. On her frequent visits home to Mississippi, you would find her in the kitchen frying catfish steaks, cooking collard greens, mac ‘n’ cheese and her famous German chocolate cake, humming a tune; just like Mama used to do.

Laura met the love of her life, Henry Miller and they were married October 20, 1984. Mama and Papa, (as they fondly called each other) shared a blissful thirty-seven years together.

Laura leaves to cherish fond memories: her husband of 37 years Henry Miller of Bronx, New York; her daughter Barbara Ann Doss of Yonkers, NY; her granddaughter Jonte’ Alicia Parris and great-grandson Nasir King Giggers of Baltimore, Maryland; her mother-in-law Luvenia Miller of Camden, Alabama. Six sisters, Bobbie Doss Scutter (Clarence) of Port Gibson, MS; Catherine Dingle (Jimmie) and Susie Jones (Wilston) of Brandon, MS; Holly Doss of Jackson, MS; Joyce Wells of Jamacia, NY; and Annie Rose Benson of Bronx, NY. Two brothers Calvin Doss (Barbra) of Lithia Springs, GA, and Martin Doss (Mary) of Brandon, MS. Four sisters-in-law: Flora, Doris, Loretta, and Hattie all of Camden, AL. Six brothers-in-law:  Jonah, Arthur, Lester, Leon, and Roger all of Camden, AL and Larry of Columbus, GA.
