Biography:
Raymond Gordon was born and raised in Brooklyn New York, to parents Edward and Henrietta Gordon on August 5th, 1946.Raymond was the younger of two boys. He grew up in Brooklyn where he attended Boys High School. Soon after
graduation he was enlisted into the Marines where he spent several years.
In 1966 he met and married the love of his life, Carrie Fox Gordon. The two of them went on to build a happy family which consisted of eight children. During the years Raymond held several jobs although his favorite was being a captain on Wards Island; where he enjoyed helping the residents there get on their feet to become a more productive citizens to society.
Raymond was a big jokester who loved making people laugh. He met a coworker while working on Wards Island who wanted to learn how to be hip so Raymond charged him $50 a week to let him follow him around while learning how to be hip. He’s still not hip, but he gained a lifelong friend.
Raymond was preceded in death by his loving mom and dad, his brother Edward Gordon Jr. and his baby girl Ursula Fox.
Raymond will be truly missed by many friends and family. He leaves to cherish his memories: His wife Carrie Fox Gordon, his seven children Travon Fox Singleton, Arnold Fox, Terrence Fox, Ramona Fox, Raymond Fox, Joseph Fox, and Darryl Fox; 20 grandchildren and 18 great grand, 4 sisters-in-law, 2 brothers-in-law, 3 daughters-in-law and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
