Benjamin Jarvis

09-22-1937 - 04-19-2018

Biography: Benjamin Jarvis was born in New York to the proud parents of Joseph and Ruby Jarvis on September 22nd, 1937. He had 4 sisters Doris, Joella, Victoria and Ruby whom he adored unconditionally and 1 brother, Joseph Jr. who wanted nothing but the best for him.

Ben accomplished many things in life and left nothing undone. He always took initiative, worked hard for himself and believed education is everywhere, “you just have to be open to learning” he’d always say.

Ben lived his life as creative, fun and best as possible. He always worked hard but he loved even harder. In 1995, his life became less about him and more about his daughter when a beautiful woman,  Altamease Powell, blessed him.

Before, Ben had the opportunity to live out a dream he had by obtaining employment with MTA for over 20 years. He then lived the rest of his life being a devoted father, provider and friend. He tried living out other dreams like being a comedian and a country singer, which really didn’t work out as well but that never stopped him from telling jokes and singing his heart out.

Ben enjoyed the trips to the parks, museums, Chuck E. Cheese, restaurants and love to be in his lucky chair in his living room where he would watch the Mets play until his eyes turned blue. He always looked out and helped where he could. To everyone he was Uncle Ben, Mr. Ben, Bennie or BJ but to his children, Unique, Ilese and Nyquina he was daddy, our hero.

With his amazing personality, Ben touched so many lives, created an impact on most and will be missed. His soul travels on but he leaves his love, creativity, honor, and peace to his loving daughters, son, sisters, brother, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
