Irene Thomas
Oct. 23, 1922 – Jun. 13, 2013 - Age 91
Mrs. Irene Thomas, dedicated daughter of the late Mr. Benny Jenkins and Mrs. Thursa Lee Jenkins, was called home to rest on Sunday, June 30, 2013 at Harlem Hospital. Surrounding her bedside at her Homegoing was her family
Irene was born in Estill, South Carolina on October 23, 1922. In the latter years of her childhood, she moved to Savannah, Georgia with her family. There, she went to school and graduated from Beach High School in 1941.
Irene came to New York in 1948 where she met Willie Thomas and were married on July 10, 1949.
Irene was preceded in death by: her husband Willie Thomas; and two sisters Rosa Lee Jones and Minnie Mae Scott, both of South Carolina; brothers Isaac Jenkins, John Wesley Myres, Edward Myres, and Verden Newton.
Mrs. Irene Thomas leaves to cherish her memory: sister-in-law Laura New; and two special friends Joan Robison and Pauline; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and loving friends.
