Biography:

“Thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever” Psalm 23:5, 6

Robert Joseph Goldsby Jr was born in Prichard, Alabama on June 30, 1940 to the late Margaret Williams Goldsby and the late Robert Goldsby Sr.  Robert departed this life on Friday, January 17th.

Robert was a graduate of the Most Pure Heart of Mary High School in Mobile, Alabama. Robert enlisted in the United States Army, served in the Vietnam War and received an Honorable Discharge in December 1966. He received multiple medals for his service including: National Defense Service, Vietnam Service, Vietnam Campaign and Good Conduct.

Robert was a kind and quiet man who loved helping others. He was a true gentlemen who was a father figure to many relatives and friends. Robert was a very generous man who would have given you the shirt off his back. He was a devoted and dedicated Catholic working as a selfless member, repairman and Head Usher at Our Lady of the Presentation Church for decades. As his mobility decreased, he became a dedicated member at St. Michael-St. Malachy Parish closer to home.

Robert met Willie Geneva Mack in 1970. They were united in Holy Matrimony on January 7th 1978. Robert was preceded in death by his parents Margaret Williams Goldsby and Robert Goldsby Sr and his brother Larry Goldsby.

Robert Goldsby Jr leaves to cherish his loving memories and to rejoice in his home going: his loving and devoted wife of 47 years Willie Geneva Goldsby of Brooklyn, N.Y.; daughter Sonia Mack, Brooklyn, N.Y.; three sisters Irma Goldsby, Shirley McBride and Margaret of Prichard, Alabama; two Brother in laws Fred Wallace Mack of Chesapeake, VA and Willie Allen Mack of Wyandanch, N.Y.; nieces Sabrina Stephens (Michael) of Prichard, Alabama, Bianca McBride of Action Massachusetts, Cassandra Smith (Darren) of Atlanta GA, and January McBride of Prichard, Alabama; nephews James McBride Jr of Prichard, Alabama, Anthony Jones of Brooklyn, N.Y, and Reginald Jones of Dacula, Ga.; cousin Kevin Williams and a multitude of friends in the Prichard and East New York neighborhoods.

Robert also leaves a host of cousins, friends and relatives who considered him a father figure.
