Biography: Warner Baxter Martin was born on June 23rd 1935 in Danville, Virginia to the Late Fritz Frances Martin. Later the mother and son moved to New York City where Warner continued his education and graduated from Gompers High School in the Bronx.

Warner then served in the army as a radio teletype operator from 1956 to 1959. He used to say some of his fondest moments of his time on the army was when he was stationed in South Korea. After the army after Warner worked at Lane Bryant clothing store here he met and developed a long life friendship with Joseph One Dagennaro and Victor Simons. Together they formed a singing group that lasted many years. Warner loved listening to gossip music. Warner then worked as a security driver for Bankers Trust until he retired.

Warner, also known as ‘Sweetpea’ or ‘Marty’, lived on 118th between Lenox and 7th for over 70 years . There he was raised ; his sons, grandchildren and great grandchildren spent time there as well.

Warner leaves to cherish his victories and rejoice in his memory his Ex Wife Carol Martin Sons, James Martin Sr, Warren Martin and stepson Eric Murrell daughter-in-law Sharon. Grandchildren James Jr, Carolyn, Zaquan, Erica , Noni, Zakia , Jerrell, Tahj, Naveah Eric Jr and Emani. Great Grandchildren Brianna , James the 3rd (Trey) Chloe, Jayla, Christian, Joshua Jr, Nova, Juelz, Jayceon, Jurni, Missouri, Isaiah and Isaac Jr. Cousin’s Geraldine Stewart and Traci Jean Hartzog and more family and friends.
