Biography: Mrs. Rosena C. Faison was born on December 26, 1952 in Horry County Georgetown, South Carolina. She departed this life on February 25, 2025 at Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York City. Mrs. Faison received her formal education through Horry County Public Schools. She gained the special nickname “Moot” because she did not like to drink milk.

Moot migrated to New York City in the 1950s. She landed on 114th Street and never left the area. Upon deciding to stay North on 114th Street, she began bringing up her siblings as well. They all resided on 114th Street for a short period of time living, having children and marrying.

Moot held many job positions over her lifetime but the employment opportunity she loved the most was the U.S. Postal Service as s mail handler. She worked this job until her retirement in the mid 1980s. From that time forward she became a full-time homemaker and an active member within the community and Democratic Party.

Moot met the love of her life in the 1960s, where they married and had one child, Diane. Moot loved the Lord and never forgot where she came from. She always reminded others to say there prayers and give God his honor. She joined AME Baptist Church in the 1970s. She raised her children up through the church and also served the church in multiple ways.

Moot told stories of how she grew up in South Carolina which gave her a different slang. Mrs. Rosena C. Faison was preceded in death by: her husband Henry Faison, Jr., sons John Arthur and Andre “Stick” Harrison, her parents, two brothers and four sisters.

She is survived and cherished by: two children, son Michael J. Campbell, Sr., and daughter Diane Faison; eight grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.

Additionally, she leaves behind two sisters-in-law Mrs. Maggie Frederick Warsaw and Gladys Faison Warsaw; one daughter-in-law Rosario Campbell of the Philippines; two brothers-in-law Oscar McDonald of Georgetown, South Carolina and Frank Kennedy of Douglasville, Georgia.

Rose’s final resting place will be beside her son, Andre “Stick” Harrison. She will truly be missed.
