Biography:

The Date: March 6, 1961     The Time: Perfect    The Place: Harlem, NY

Our family’s history will always read that it was the beginning of our sister’s Dash------.

It was on this day; Linda Diane Ray was born to the young loving married couple of Mr. George A and Jacquelyn B Ray. She was the second child born to this union of a sibling group of five.

She was known by most people as “Linda” and to some she was called “Diane”.

She received her formal education in The Bronx, starting at P.S 23, P.S. 140, J.H.S. 120, Evander Childs High School, and graduated from Harlem Preparatory School under the direction of Rev. Jerome Greene. While at Harlem Preparatory School she received a scholarship to Carleton College in Norfield, Minnesota.

Upon returning from college, she began working in the family business, G & J Private Cab Service, Bronx, N.Y.  Eventually she left and began working for the State of New York, and later opened her own private cab service and garage, M & R Auto – H & D Mgmt., LLC, Bronx, NY, with her business partner, Mr. William H Matthews.

Linda completed her professional career working in the office of Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz, as a Special Assistant to Deputy Borough President Aurelia Greene.

When we think about Linda Diane Ray, we will always remember her as loving, generous, helpful, caring, and kind, and that when she made up her mind to do something, she got the job done. There was no task or obstacle that she allowed to get in her way. For those who knew her, we are not

remorseful of her exit from this life, as we know all believers live to hear God’s trumpet, receive our crown, and hear the words, “Job well-done my good and faithful servant”. We know Linda has the victory and her crown comes with a “no trade clause”. If you knew her, live with the assurance that you were loved.

Her church affiliation began with Victory Baptist Church, Bronx, NY, Beauty Hill Baptist, Orangeburg, SC, Bronx Christian Charismatic Prayer Fellowship (Rev. Jerome Greene), Trinity Baptist Church, and St. Stephen Baptist Church, Pastor Antonio Jordan, where she served as a faithful member.

Linda Diane, was called by some Mommy, some Nana, some friend, some cousin, and some sister. She will be missed and remembered as a faithful and committed servant of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

She is survived by her loving daughter, Johnise Perry (husband, James); 3 brothers: George A Ray, Jr, Atlanta, GA, Rev. Arnold E Ray (Wife, Brenda Ray) Norway, SC, Rev. Craig Ray (wife, Leslie Ray), Atlanta, GA; 1 Sister: Jacquelyn R Fulton (husband, Sidney B Fulton III).  Her favorite nieces and nephews: Sidney IV, Nehemiah, Brittany, Jordan, and Victoria. Her grandson, James, cousins and relatives and so many friends and associates to mention.

“We will miss you Diane”.
