Biography: Robin Rene Joseph Owens was born to her late parents, Samuel and Amy Joseph in a loving home in New York City on June 25, 1953. Robin was the youngest child of three: Samuel Jr. and Yvonne F. Joseph Gunter whom preceded her in death.
Robin accepted Christ at an early age. She joined Mount Moriah Baptist Church and was baptized there where both her parents and grandparents attended and served. Robin received her education through the New York City School System and graduated from Monroe High School.
Robin met and married Stanley Owens on September 2, 1977 who preceded her in death from this union two children were born Joseph E. Owens and Michael S. Owens. Robin held many jobs. One working in the department store T.S.S., Central Park Zoo for many years and at Stevenson High School as a school aide.
Robin loved her sons and family she was always making sure they weretaken care of and they had everything they needed. Robin also looked out for the children in the community. “Ms. Robin”, as she was affectionately called, would have a house full of kids at any given time giving her motherly advice and words of encouragement. Robin loved to play casino in her spare time and spent time with her friends and family. She loved sharing stories of her youthful days, sitting around talking with her close friends.
Robin’s health began to fail earlier this year. She developed kidney failure along with other health issues. She was admitted to Montefiore Medical Center Einstein Campus. The family would like to take this opportunity to thank the doctors and nurses for their compassion and care not only for Robin but the entire family.
During her illness, she was cared for by her children, daughter-in-law Tequilla and her niece :Lil Robin” who were constantly by her side. She leaves to cherish her memory with love her: three sons: Joseph, Michael and Stanley Owens; her daughter-in-law Tequilla; her grandchildren: Mya, Jermaine, Joseph, Chloe, Chevy Owens and Shaliyah Owens, Taquiah, Shanell Woodley, Shantel Ragin Owens, Samya Ragin Owens, Stanley Samir Ragin Owens; great-grandchildren: Gia, Celine and Justice Owens; two first cousins: Danny and Starchy; two nephews: Kirk and Samuel; one niece Robin; and a host of other nephews, nieces, second cousins, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law and friends.
Robin’s kindness, love and devotion will be greatly missed but her spirit will forever live on in the hearts of all those whose lives she touched. Until we meet again, rest in the arms of The Lord. You will be missed immensely
