Biography: Michael Walter Billups was born on April 14, 1978, to Marva Billups and the late Sam Billups. He was a beloved partner, son, brother, and friend to many. He was proud to serve as a court officer with King’s County Family Court for 19 years.
Michael was born in Manhattan, New York and celebrated with his mother at 4:35 pm every year. He was raised in the Bronx and attended St. Dominic Elementary School and St. Raymond High School for Boys. He began his college studies at Virginia State University and graduated from SUNY Old Westbury with a degree in Industrial and Labor Relations. Michael was a member of Abyssinian Baptist Church where he was baptized.
At the age of 14, he won a coveted job at the Bronx Zoo. In 2005, he found his true calling as a court officer at King’s County Family Court in Brooklyn. This is also where he met his long-time partner and love, Molly Lundberg.
Michael was passionate about cheering on the Vikings, planning the next big trip, and spending time with friends and loved ones. He enjoyed running and training at Tiger Schulman’s martial arts.
Everyone who knew Michael was touched by his kind heart, quiet strength, and fierce loyalty to those he loved. Left to cherish his memory are his mother Marva Billups; partner Molly Lundberg; siblings Samuel E. Billups, Debora Billups, Phyllis Billups-Campbell (Roan), and Marcus Billups (Kecia); nieces Colette Billups, Shaniqua Billups, Ajeé Billups, Trichelle Billups, Laquawn Billups, Faith Billups, Victoria Campbell, and Markisha Billups; nephews Derek Billups, Ennis Billups, Brandon Collier, Bryce Campbell, and Marcus Billups; and goddaughter Andrea Pacheco.
In lieu of offerings, donations may be made to Memorial Sloan Kettering Memorial Cancer Center whose staff provided wonderful care and friendship to Michael over the years.
