Marcia Elizabeth Blair Hall

12-30-1954 - 12-16-2024

Biography: Marcia Elizabeth Blair Hall, daughter to David and Marguerite Blair in New York City passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on Monday, December 16, 2024.

She was a graduate of Music and Art High School, New York University and Columbia Teachers College. On June 28, 1953 she married the late James Alexander Hall in New York City. She was a devoted teacher of 33 years at Wadleigh Junior High School where she taught music and math. Under the leadership of Elfreda Wright and Marcia Hall, The Wadleigh Glee Club was noted for its excellence. They also performed at the World's Fair. Along with being a fine teacher she was a skilled accompanist playing for her father, David and her husband, James, who were both singers and with many other vocalists here in New York.

Born a Rendall Church baby, Marcia studied under the organist and music instructor, Heppie Ross. Initially, Marcia played the organ for Sunday School and directed the youth choir. After Mrs. Ross' retirement, Marcia was honored to assume the position of Music Director. As Director of the Rendall Chancel Choir for 23 years, Marcia received the highest respect, dedication and loyalty from her faithful choir members. In addition to her Director of Music responsibilities, Marcia served on several committees and organized summer programs and retreats.

Additionally, Marcia was secretary for the Family and Friendship Club, a contributor to the South African Task Force, New York Presbyterian Women, and served for a number of years as Secretary of the Harlem Council of Black Presbyterian Churches and Commissioner from Rendall to the Presbytery of New York.

Marcia is a proud member of the Zeta Phi Beta Sorority and has participated in and supported many activities in the Harlem community.

Cherishing her memory are her devoted son, Jeff and daughter Carol and their spouses, Jacquie and Dean; her grandchildren, Christopher and Kerri, who were the 'apples of her eyes'; nephew, Kyle, and his wife, Sidrah; grandniece and grandnephews; and many cousins and a host of friends.

Your smile is gone forever, your hands we cannot touch Thank God for tender memories, of the one we loved so much.
