Biography:
Micah Vito Alexis Harris, age 47, passed away on January 30, 2026. He was born on December 27, 1978, in Brooklyn, New York, to Ollie Pearson and Willie Harris.
A native of Brooklyn in both birth and spirit, Micah carried Brooklyn in his heart always. It shaped who he was and how he saw the world. For a period of his life, Micah resided at Coler-Goldwater Specialty Hospital and Nursing Facility until 2018, where he built meaningful relationships and continued to cultivate his sense of self and community. He had a deep love for poetry and found meaning and expression through words, often using them to reflect on life, love, and identity.
Micah was also highly involved with Open Doors NYC, an organization dedicated to supporting the creativity, leadership, and empowerment of Black and Brown wheelchair users. Through his involvement, he championed inclusion, artistic expression, and community-building, leaving a lasting impact on those he worked alongside.
Micah is survived by his loving parents, Ollie Pearson and Willie Harris; his sister, Amorette Nelson, and brother-in-law, Howard Nelson; his brother, Kimani Robinson, and his fiancée, Cori Jones; as well as his brother, Willie Harris Jr., and sister, Israel Bloomfield.
He is also survived by a devoted extended family including his aunts Maxine Pearson; Helen Williams and her husband, Harry Williams; Lillie Owens and her husband, Isaiah Owens; and Curtis Harbinson. His uncles include Peter Pearson and Robert Franklin and his wife, Belma.
Micah leaves behind three beloved nieces and one nephew, along with many cherished cousins, including Eric Morgan and his wife, Yohara Morgan, David Morgan, and a host of other cousins, relatives, and loved ones who will forever hold him close in memory.
