Biography:
Barbara J. Matthews Weedon was born November 9, 1937 in Wetumpka, Alabama to Minnie Lee Matthews of Wetumpka, Alabama.
At an early age she joined New Prospect Baptist Church in Wetumpka, Alabama where she served and supported the church. She graduated from Elmore County Training School in Wetumpka, Alabama. She worked as a switchboard operator for Abbey Victoria and Allerton Hotel where she later retired.
She relocated to New York City and joined Shiloh Baptist Church where she served faithfully until her health began to fail.
Barbara departed this life May 5, 2025 at Mt. Sinai Hospital in New York City.
She is preceded in death by: mother Minnie L. Matthews, husband Lee Weedon, brother Drew Trimble also known as Junior Matthews; two sisters: Lena Humphrey and Dorothy Hudson; two children: Marlon Sellers and Keshia Weedon.
She leaves to cherish her memories: son, Terrence Belton; loving and devoted cousin: Cinda J. Anthony; lifelong friends: Ruth Singleton and Carol Smith; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
