Biography:

Tobo Alfred “Bo” Johnson was born on December 30, 1946, in Brooklyn and raised in Harlem at 263 West 114th Street, to the proud parents of Mr. Dickson and Anna L. Lester. He was the second youngest of seven siblings and was preceded in death by Juanita Johnson, Morris “Spudd” Johnson, Shirley Johnson, and James “Subba” Johnson.

Bo attended P.S. 113 in Harlem, where his journey first began surrounded by family, community, and love. He later retired as a Dietary Aide from Terrace Health Care Center in the Bronx after years of hard work and dedication.

Bo had a deep love for music, especially playing the drums. He loved cooking, bringing family together, and making memories around food, laughter, and love. Some of the best moments with him were simple — going out to dinner, watching movies, and just being together. He was known throughout Harlem and was truly a man of his word, someone who stood strong no matter what life brought his way.

More than anything, Bo was a devoted father. He worked hard and did everything he could to provide for his children and guide them through life. He carried himself with strength, wisdom, pride, and resilience. Through both his words and actions, he taught the importance of loyalty, perseverance, family, and staying strong through difficult times.

To know Bo was to know a man with a strong presence and a caring heart. He was a father figure to many and left a lasting impression on everyone he met. He leaves behind a legacy that will continue to live on through his children: Charise, Christina “Tata,” Alfred, Jason, Damaryst, Joseph, and Victoria, who will forever carry his love, lessons, and memories with them.

He also leaves to cherish his memory his beloved grandchildren: Royale, Donte “Mista,” Decota, Jadalynn, Gianni, Gabriel, Leeanna, Sophia, and Sky; and his treasured great-grandchildren: Peyton, Chance, and Dream.

Bo is also survived by his loving siblings, John “Yaya Amatula” Johnson and Jacqueline Carter; his lifelong best friend, Anna Nieves; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and lifelong friends who loved him dearly.

Though he may no longer walk beside us, Bo’s spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those who loved him. His strength, wisdom, laughter, and unconditional love will never be forgotten. The memories he created and the lives he touched will continue to shine for generations to come.

He will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.
