Biography:

With profound love and gratitude for a life well lived, we celebrate the life of Libby Campbell, who peacefully departed this life on July 16, 2026.

Libby was born on October 23, 1956, in Fayetteville, North Carolina, to Irene Davis  and Willie H. Williams. She spent her early childhood in Fayetteville before moving with her family to New York City (Harlem), in 1965, where she would spend her life. She attended P.S. 24, I.S. 201, and later Julia Richman High School.

Libby was known for her warm spirit and genuine personality. She had a wonderful sense of humor that could brighten any room, was easy to talk to, and was admired for always “telling it like it is”. Whether offering a laugh, a listening ear, or straight forward advice, Libby made those around her feel welcomed and loved.

Libby married Kenneth Campbell changing her name from Libby Williams to Libby Campbell. Family was the center of Libby’s life, and her greatest joy. She leaves to cherish her loving memory her children: Eric, Ronn, Chiffon, Kenneth, Kendra, and Joseph.

Libby was a woman with a heart big enough to make everyone she loved feel like family. If you asked her how many grandchildren she had, she would proudly tell you 43 even though she had 17 biological grandchildren. To Libby, If she loved you, you were family. 

She leaves behind her beloved grandchildren: Shabazz, Octavius, England, Calil, DaRonn, Dorien, Paige, Kaylee, Karter, Kenneth Jr., Mason, Kali, Jamie-Lee, Keywon, and Journee. She was also blessed to be the  great-grandmother of Majesty and DaRonn Jr..

Libby was one of eight siblings. She was preceded in death by her siblings Tommy, Carol, and Wanda. She leaves behind her beloved siblings James "June Bug," Evelyn, Timothy, Faye, and Kaye, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and dear friends who will forever cherish the memories they shared with her.

Libby enjoyed the simple pleasures in life, including fishing, taking vacations with the people she loved, and spending time in the kitchen. She was a great cook whose meals brought people together. 

Although our hearts are heavy with sorrow, we find comfort in knowing that Libby’s love, laughter, and beautiful spirit will continue to live on through everyone whose life she touched. She leaves behind a legacy of love, resilience, and family that will never be forgotten.
