Biography: Vincent “Zaya” “Vince” Tyrone Sneed was born on October 7, 1966 in Harlem, New York to his late father, Van Albert Sneed and loving mother, Lillie Mae Sneed. He departed this life unexpectedly for his heavenly journey on Thursday, December 21, 2017, at the age of 51.
Vincent was educated through the archdiocese of New York City, graduating from Power Memorial High School in 1984. Upon
graduating, Vincent attended Hostos Community College, graduating with an Associates Degree, proceeding to John Jay
College of Criminal Justice, which lead him to the New York City Police Academy. Vincent went on to become a successful police
officer within the New York City Police Department, being promoted to the undercover beat. Vincent left the force in 1999,
entering the private sector, becoming the Fire/Life Safety Director at BMS Building Services in Manhattan.
Vincent will always be remembered for his love for his children and family. He took tremendous pride in spending quality time with his children and ensuring they were connected with family. As of late, he cherished his time with his 6 year old son, taking him to parks, riding scooters and Big Wheels, as he did as a young boy himself. He loved music and football, namely the Dallas Cowboys.
He leaves to cherish special memories of a loving mother, Lillie Sneed-Robertson, a loving daughter, Shanay Lillie Sneed of New Rochelle, NY, two loving sons, Narzaya Sneed of East New York, NY and Tycent Sneed of Harlem, NY. Vincent’s extended children include Benjamin Muhammad Jr. of Houston, TX, Sarinah Muhammad of New Rochelle, NY, Andrew Thomas of New York, NY. His brother, Van “Mickey” Sneed, Jr. of Richardson, TX precedes him in death. He leaves one brother, Anthony “Teddy” Sneed (Phyllis) of Richardson, TX and one sister, Sonrisa “Risa” Haynes of Roxbury, MA. Vincent leaves behind a host of aunts,
uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and extended family from Taft Housing in Harlem, NY.
