Deaconess Madeline Littlejohn

Biography: Madeline Littlejohn was born in Henderson, North Carolina on Decem-ber 21, 1916. She was the daughter of the late Sam Horner and the late Anna Jones. She departed this life on August 30, 2018, just shy of her 102nd birthday, at her home in New York City. Madeline was united in holy matrimony to the late George Littlejohn in 1935. Out of this union came two children – the late George Wilbur Littlejohn Jr. and Beatrice Jackson.

Madeline worked as a homemaker while raising her children. At an early age she was converted at Mitchell Chapel Baptist Church in Louisburg, North Carolina. She came to New York City in 1935 and joined LaGree Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor L.S. Taylor, where she remained a member for 83 years. Deaconess Madeline Littlejohn is the last key woman of LaGree Baptist Church. She served on the Trustee Board for 12 years and also served as a chairperson of the Deaconess Ministry. She had a beautiful voice and sang in a quartet called The Four Daughters of Israel.

She leaves to mourn one daughter, Mrs. Beatrice Jackson; one daughter-in-law, Mrs. Susan Littlejohn, seven grandchildren, Sytonia Booker, Vincent Littlejohn, Christopher Littlejohn, Tracey Jackson, Crystal Jackson, Kimberley Jackson -Brown, Jon Jason Jack-son Jr. and nine great-grandchildren – Denize Hende, Alex Littlejohn, Vincent Lit-tlejohn Jr., Jonathan Littlejohn, Qetuwrah Cox, Jackson Brown, Kennedy Brown, Zion Jackson, Logan Brown and two great-great grandchildren, Khylin Cox and Kaylin Cox.
