Biography: James Mingo, age 48, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones on Wednesday, April 10, 2019. James was born February 6, 1971 in Harlem, New York to James Mingo and Priscilla DeConti (Thomas).
James attended Roosevelt High School where he became a star basketball player and gravitated towards business and entrepreneurship. James lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures: chatting with friends and family, eating snow crab legs, hosting neighborhood bbq’s and spending time with his daughter, sons and nephews.
James had an ambitious spirit that attracted people in a positive way. He never accepted the word NO as a final answer, there was always a Plan B. James love for the neighborhood children earned him the nickname “Uncle James” to all. His taste for the “finer things in life”, as he would say, and his entrepreneurial mindset would drive that fuel in becoming founder of “YoungLivinGood Records”, funding of his son’s James apparel wear line “Stoneware New York” and a plethora of other investments during his favorable life.
James is survived by: his beloved honorary parents, Barbara Jackson-Neville and Anthony Neville (Roll Dog). Mother of his sons and best friend, Wakela Jackson; Children: Danielle “Day Day” Mingo “James “Budda” Mingo., Mia Mingo(Daughter In-Law), Tamel Jackson/Breland, Grandson’s; Baby J and Nova, Brother; Andre Thomas, Aunt’s; Darcell Guy, Alyssa Jones, Uncle’s; David Jones, Abraham Jones, Mark Jones and Kevin Jones, Sisters; Monique Jackson, Atia Jackson, Makeba Jackson, Malikah Jackson, Niema Jack and Shavette Gibbs, Nephews; Kareem, Quintel, Abraham, Omar, Malichi, Jacob, J.R., Amir and Josiah, Nieces; DePorsha, Shadiya, Delshae, Charlene, Shane, Jordan, Detaya and Morgan, God Children; Arteysa, Victoria, Kevin”TuTu” and Markem, Best Friends; Raymond, Tee, Lite, Stretch, Michelle, Omar and Shawn “Black”. He is preceded in death by his Grandparents: Leroy and Adell Jones.
