Biography: Demetra Hicks was born in New York City on April 14, 1967. She departed this earthly life and entered into eternal rest on October 16th 2019. Demetra was born unto her mother Cora Lee Hicks and father Joseph Crummy.
Growing up in New York City Demetra attended the local public school and graduated from the High School of Humanities.
During her lifetime she was employed as a home attendant. Demetra had also been a staunch advocate for mental health where she advocated through her affiliation with Chelton Loft. She had been a member of Chelton Loft Clubhouse for over 25 years and served as President of the Clubhouse Coalition (Clubhouse NYC).
Demetra was an official mentor for interviewing potential staff and interns who needed guidance about the Clubhouse in all facets of operations. She loved helping people.
Demetra was pre deceased by her Parents, Sister Denise Hicks and Brother Dennis Hicks. She leaves to mourn her Brother, Devaine Hicks (Gail), and Sisters Deidra Wilson (Donald), Alice Faye “Kissy” Brown and Joyce M. Brown both of NC. A host of nieces, nephews and cousins. Special love to her best friends Andrew Seed and Timothy Barrett.
