Gregory Berry was born October 4, 1956 to the late Mr. Clinton and Ethelyn Berry in Bronx, New York. Gregory grew up in the Bronx; he went to J.H.S 136 and also attended Dewitt
Clinton High School.
Gregory’s love for basketball led to an opportunity to play in Minnesota at Northern Community College. Gregory played for a year returning to New York and reconnected with his childhood sweetheart Patricia Harvey-Bailey. A year later their daughter Shannon Berry was born.
Five years later Gregory met his life partner Verna Brown-Berry and son Darrin Brown. Through their union they had three other children Karrin, Gregory, and Ivy Berry. Gregory would eventually move to Miami, Florida after the passing of his mother.
Gregory met his second chance Meta Smith and in their relationship a baby boy Jordan Smith- Berry was born. Gregory also known as Champ to many, was a fun-loving, hardworking, charismatic, entrepreneurial man. Gregory had a love for life and travel, he loved his children and family. A gentle giant he showed love to everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him. Your word is your bond was his favorite line. He loved his friends who over the years became family. Gregory departed this life July 4, 2020 Gregory will be truly missed by all who loved him.
His parents Clinton and Ethelyn Berry preceded him in death. He leaves behind a brother Keith Gibson and his children Shannon Berry, (Bronx, NY), Darrin Brown, Karrin Berry-Crowe (White Plains, NY), Gregory Berry, Ivy Berry-Bullock (Miami/Jacksonville, FL), and Jordan Smith-Berry (Gary,IN). One nephew Kevin Abel, five nieces Nikita Abel, Kelly Berry, Christine Berry, Shavonne Burley, Meme Maddox. A godson, Duvonne Robertson. Two daughters-in-law: Cozette Crowe, Raylene Brown. A son-in-law, Karim Bullock. Twelve grandchildren Madison, Austin, Heaven, Kristen, Kensi, Zuri, Nasir, Darrin Jr, and Kenau, Diamond, Karim Jr, and Jada. Three aunts Rosalee Mcintosh, Maggie Smith, and Josephine Smith (Miami, FL) cousins Jill Smith, Margo Smith, and Michelle Davis (Miami, FL), and Cynthia Abel( Bronx, NY) and a host of family and friends.
