Biography: Robert Anthony Jones Sr. (Bob) was born on May 24,1952 to Jean and (the late) Robert Jones. He was the oldest brother to Mitchell and Jeffery (Jay) Jones and step sister, Sakina Cain. Bob was a great son and big brother.
Bob went to Haren High School in Manhattan, where he ran track and won all state championships while attending school.
In September of 1972, Bob married Charleen White and had three children, Kenya, Sharlene, and Robert Jr (Little Bob). After years of marriage, Charleen and Bob divorced, but remained friends for years.
Dubbed “Party Master” by his family and friends, Bob brought the party wherever he went. He worked at the Manhattan Psychiatric Center, NY. Soon after he reconnected with his longtime friend, Gladys Sainte. After eight years of dating, Gladys and Bob married on October 5, 2013. They were married for 7 years until his sunset on December 30, 2020.
Bob rededicated his life to God at the Tried Stone Baptist Church, Bronx, NY, where he was the President of the Usher Board, worked in the soup kitchen, sang in two choirs and would drive seniors to and from church in the church’s van. He was always willing to help.
Robert received the NAACP Religious Worker Award on November 9, 2007.
Bob is survived by his loving wife, Gladys, his mother, Jean, his brothers Mitchell and Jeffery (Jay), his step sister, Sakina, his 3 children, Kenya, Sharlene, and Bob Jr., 8 grandchildren Starsha, Kenya Alaine, April, Antione, Latrice, Stephanie, Xavier, Juanathan, and 2 great grandchildren, Jaden and Zamir. Bob also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews,
cousins, extended family and friends.
