Biography:
Mrs. Sandra Patricia Blount Winston was born in Harlem, New York, on August 7,1945 to James Louis Blount and Corinne Dillard Blount. Sandra spent her early years In Harlem, New York where she attended Resurrection Elementary School, IS 36 and Cathedral High School.
Sandra held various jobs throughout her life including her last place of employment with the NYC Department of Human Resources Administration, Office of Child Support and Enforcement. During her tenure there she rose to the title of
Supervisor. For all who knew her, were aware that she treated everyone the same, always with the same respect and kindness.
In addition to being a devoted and loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother, Sandra was very interested in the well-being of her community and her friends and neighbors who lived there. For many years Sandra was very active in her buildings Tenants Association and the Edgecombe Avenue Block Association and other community related activities. She was involved in many initiatives of consequence. Sandra touched many lives and continued her interest in those who knew her up and until her untimely death.
Sandra met Andy in 1966. They dated for a while and married on March 3, 1968. Sandra was the mother of five children who she loved fiercely and protectively. She loved them more than anything in this world. She enjoyed living her life and doing the things that made her and her family happy and was known to really like a good party.
On Sunday, August 15, 2021. Sandra Winston departed this life. God needed her more, heaven gained an angel and we lost a loving and supportive mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, sister, niece, cousin, and friend that will always be missed. Sandra was loved unconditionally by her family and her extended family. Sandra was preceded in death by her mother, father and her son, Troy (Tara’s Twin) Sandra leaves a host of family and friends to cherish many fond and wonderful memories; her husband, Andrew Jackson Winston, her loving and devoted children: Simone Winston Grant (Andre Grant), Tara Corbett (Dudley Corbett), Rasheed and Yasmeen Hart (Twins). Grandchildren: Shanelle B. Winston, Lynnasia E. Winston, Andre D. Grant, Taylah S. Turenne, Naimah J. Reese, Nadira N. Hart. Bonus Grand, Essence A. Grant. Great Grands: K`Lynn F. Jones, bonus great grands: Alaijah, Alanah and Jacob Grant. Sister, Catresa Johnson. Nieces, Cherese Headen, Chavay Johnson. Goddaughter’s, Lisa Nared and Susan Hadley; and a Host of COUSINS, Family and Friends.
