Biography:
Deacon Robert Spann, Jr., son of the late Robert and Hester Moses Spann was born November 20, 1937 in Lee County, South Carolina; where he was educated in the Public School system. At an early age he became a member of Jerusalem Baptist Church, in Bishopville, South Carolina.
Robert was united in Holy matrimony to the late Helen Peoples in August,1957. To this union one daughter was born Vera Ann Spann. In the early 1970’s he became a member of the New Tabernacle Baptist Church in Bronx, NY. There, he served as Deacon under the leadership of the late Reverend James B. Staggers. Robert worked faithless until the very end.
He leaves to cherish many loving memories: Two Daughters, Vera Spann Peace of Rocky Mt., NC and Linda Cook of South Carolina; two Sisters, Dora Spann of Bronx, NY, and Hester McKay of Lamar, S.C; one brother John Thomas Spann of Hartsville S.C; four sisters-in-law Mattie Daniels, Dorothy McClain, Mary Peoples, Rosa Peoples; one brother-in-law William Taft Peoples; eight grandchildren, Melvin L. Allen (Natasha Allen),
Tamiqua Allen, Joey Anderson, Melissa Spann, Tariq Spann, Sahara Spann, Sharon Wilson, and Timothy Wilson; fourteen great grands, seven great-great grands, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends of family.
