Bruce Andre Lawhorn

09-24-1977 - 01-20-2023

Biography: Bruce Andre Lawhorn known as “LB” was a loving son, brother, cousin, and friend. He left this world sadly on January 20th, 2023, at the age of 45. Bruce was born on September 24th, 1977, in Harlem Hospital to Yvonne Lawhorn and Bruce Scott. Bruce was born with the most perfect round face and beautiful bright eyes he was the cutest little thing.  He was the only boy in a house full of females and they all fought over him.

Bruce received his education through the NYC Public School System. He attended P.S. 123 Elementary School and Fredrick Douglass (I.S 10). He furthered his education by taking his GED.

Bruce kept people rolling in laughter when he would tell some of his outrageous stories of his childhood experiences (all of which were true).  He also received the name “Cut ‘Em Loose Bruce” because he was always in something as a child. He loved being around his family and friends, being an only child, he considered his cousins his brothers and sisters.

Bruce had a compassionate side to him, as a kid he would spend some of his time helping the disabled. Bruce didn’t have any children of his own but had love for all children. Bruce never backed down from a fight, he was always willing to help family and friends. Growing up on Lenox Ave Bruce had a passion for rap music (one of his favorite rappers being Tupac), which led to him think about pursuing a rap career. Bruce favorite basketball teams were the NY Knicks and LA Lakers.

Bruce will be forever remembered for his beautiful smile, gentle eyes, caring heart, loving embrace and unconditional love. He had a remarkable ability to connect with people and leave behind nothing but love in each person he knew. Although our hearts are heavy, we will celebrate his life and find comfort that he is in heaven watching over us. When you think of Bruce, celebrate the good memories you have of him. Remember that life is fragile and short and should be lived to the fullest.

Bruce was preceded in death by his grandmother Mary Lawhorn whom he loved dearly, his aunts Paulette, Loretta and Jennifer Lawhorn, Margie Watson and his uncle Michael Watson. Bruce is survived by his father Bruce Scott, his aunts Barbara and Leatrice Lawhorn, uncles Andre Lawhorn, Barry Scott and Donald Watson and a host of cousins, family and friends.
