Biography: David Blackmon, Jr. was born on July 3, 1972 to David and Minnie Blackmon in New York, NY. He graduated from Cardinal Hayes High School and continued on to the University of Vermont in Burlington, VT. During his time at UVM, he was a member of the Black Student Union that changed the culture for students of color attending the University. While at UVM, David realized that cooking was his passion so he enrolled in the New England Culinary Institute in Montpelier, VT which paved the way for him to become one of the most talented, loved and respected Chefs among his peers. His many internships allowed him to travel and train with some of the best Culinary artists in the field, including NYC.
Through his journey, he always put his faith and trust in God to lead him. Upon his return to NYC, he worshipped with the Mt. Neboh Baptist Church, where his father was a Deacon and then moved to Greater Central Baptist Church, where he was raised. As part of this journey, he was reunited with his first love, Michelle Coleman, whom he met and had known since the age of 16. David and Michelle married on September 8, 2013.
David went on to Heavenly glory on April 6, 2018 at the age of 45. He was preceded in death by his father, David Blackmon, Sr., who passed away on December 27, 2017, and his two sisters, Bernadette Nicole Blackmon and Evetta Blackmon who passed away in 1970 and 2015 respectively.
David leaves behind to cherish his memory: his wife, Michelle Coleman-Blackmon of the home; daughter, Liyah Renee Blackmon of North Fort Myers, FL; mother, Minnie Blackmon of NYC and a host of relatives and friends.
