Vernon was a man of many trades and had a passion for meeting people. Driving OJ’s luxury car service, New York Limo, and his long career as a Club Bouncer fit right into his personality.  Throughout the years, he has earned many nicknames such as 6 Double O, Pookie, Big Vee, and Uncle Vee.  He was a lover, a gentle giant and a fighter depending on the night.  Vee had a love for music, dancing, Playing Basketball, Swimming, playing pool, Ping Pong and spent many years skating at SkateKey and Skate Palace.  He was a strategic man and took great joy in teaching his kids and grandchildren how to play Chess. Big Vee spent his time with lots of people but cherished his relationship with his brothers for life Vaughn, Kareem, the twins (Izidean and Rasheed), Philip, Cornell as well as a host of others.

Vernon also had a love for the Lord and realized he needed him in his life, so he joined the New Move of God Pentecostal Church in 2010 under the leadership of Overseer Margie Cole Kendley.  He enjoyed seeing his daughter Alysha play the drums and praise dance at Church.

Vernon Mickel Jr. is survived by his children, Arianna S. Mickel, Diamond M. Walker, Vernon A. Mickel III (Lil Vee), Quayeshawn I. Walker, and Alysha M. Mickel and their mothers; his grandchildren, Skye, Dallas, Makayla, Jack and Ryleigh; his longtime companion, Paulette; and a host of nieces, nephews, Cousins and friends.  Vernon had a heart of gold and was loved by many.
