Biography: Cynthia Vernell Seabrooks, born in December in Harlem Hospital in 1952, to parents Malvin and
Vernell Seabrooks. She was the middle child of 5 siblings. Throughout her life she enjoyed
dancing. Graduating from Evander Childs High School in 1970, she was prime age to attend
dances with various family members. Her family recalls how much she liked line dancing and
going out. Cynthia liked to have fun and people liked to be around her. She was always well put
together and loved shopping for clothes. Her hobbies in her later years still included shopping,
listening to old school music, going out to eat, watching Game of Thrones, British mystery
shows, and superhero movies.

In the seventies Cynthia met the love of her life, Leo Barnes. They lived together in the Bronx.
They had a son named Randy. After Randy’s birth Cynthia graduated from Pace University in
1985 with a bachelor’s in business administration. She majored in accounting and did an
internship at Roosevelt Hospital, today it is known as St Luke’s. Over her 38 years in
accounting, she worked at Citibank then at Shanholt and Company, where she specialized as a
tax accountant. Cynthia used her talents to do many family members’ tax returns over her
lifetime.

Cynthia succumbed on September 13, 2023 while vacationing with family in the Poconos. The
Poconos and Maine were her regular relaxation retreats. Cynthia is survived by three siblings,
many cousins, nieces and nephews, the love of her life Leo, her son Randy and her
grandchildren Brandon, Cameron, Madison and Cynthia. Cynthia you are loved and will be
missed, with a hug and kiss.
